Clinton, appearing on a New York radio show Monday morning the day before the state's primary, was asked on the "The Breakfast Club" whether Donald Trump scared her.
She said he did, adding: "I think he's the Donkey of the Decade," borrowing the "Donkey of the Day" gimmick the show's hosts, Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy, use to describe, in a less-than-flattering way, someone in the news each day.
"He does scare me because what he's saying that he would do is wrong for our country," she said. "It's not only offensive to people and kind of makes you cringe — it's dangerous."
She added that she thought his efforts to "play to the worst instincts of people" were a "violation of American values and New York values, for sure."
Clinton herself has been a recipient of the "Donkey of the Day" label, which came up earlier in the show.
"I'm a Democrat, so being Donkey of the Day is a little bit of a mixed blessing," she joked.
Trump, for his part, has been deploying a new moniker ("crooked") against Clinton in recent days. On Sunday, he tweeted of the Democratic front-runner: "Crooked Hillary Clinton is spending a fortune on ads against me. I am the one person she doesn't want to run against. Will be such fun!"
